Spanking Children

Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.”                      Proverbs 23: 13-14

You have probably already heard that a Democrat assemblywoman named Sally Lieber introduced legislation that would make it a crime in California for you to spank your own child! Of course, this would be intruder into the sanctity of the home does not have any children of her own. Apparently in her ignorance on the subject she is also either unaware or disbelieving when it comes down to what God has to say on the matter.

But in her “wisdom” she wants to make it where a parent can spend a year in jail or have to pay a fine of a thousand dollars for caring enough to try to set their child on the correct path in life. As soon as a child begins to get around the house, I did not say walking, they begin to get into problems. The parent has already seen before this the signs of rebellion that testify to the curse of our sin nature. One of the first words the child has learned, and hates, is the word “no!”

If you wait to correct a child, and discipline them, till after 4 years of age, I can promise you this. Depending on the child’s temperament you are going to have some parenting problems. I suggest you go to a shopping center some time and observe how young spoiled children can be and still throw fits. Not only that, I remember well a psychological study done about 35 or 40 years ago on the subject of spanking. The shrinks found out children who grew up without corporal punishment in their lives were often unsure of their parents love. Not a politically correct finding!

This woman is determined to get this legislation through even though most of her constituents are against it! She probably grew up a self-willed child. They are usually unconcerned about the feelings and opinions of others as adults. Bill Maze another assemblyman said “California has garnered a reputation over the years of supporting these extreme legislative measures.” Yep it’s nicknamed “the land of fruits and flakes,” and noted for a lack of respect for God’s word. <”><
